ABOUT US:
Father and Son Charters was founded in 1998 by Erik & Buzz Johnson, a father and son team with over 50 years of combined Alaska fishing and Alaska yacht tour experience. Their passion was to deliver the finest fish catching vacation on the West coast of North America. For nine years they worked as Alaska fishing guides in a remote area of southeast Alaska that boasted some of the most incredible fish catching opportunities for salmon, halibut and bottom fish.
After a near decade of lodge based operations, Erik and his wife Tam decided to create an even better experience for their guests by investing in a floating mobile fishing camp. Their decision proved to be the perfect choice and a big hit during their tenth year of operation.
Erik Johnson grew up in a commercial fishing family and spent much of his life on the ocean with his father. Erik’s dream of guiding fishermen started when he was just 12 years old. He has fished the Bearing Sea in the winter and the rivers in Washington in the summer. His vast experience of working on commercial fishing vessels and sport fishing vessels, certainly qualifies him to be your captain during your seven day Alaska yacht fishing adventure. He is a licensed coast guard captain and a licensed Alaska sport fishing guide.
Tam and Erik got married in November 2005. Tam was a land lover before she met Erik. Raised in Montana, she has an immense knowledge of the great outdoors. It did not take her long to fall in love with southeast Alaska’s uniqueness, untamed coastline and beauty. She is also a licensed coast guard captain but, spends most of her time keeping their guests comfortable and well fed while they enjoy their Alaska Fishing experience.
Whether you’re landing a two hundred pound halibut, landing your eleventh king salmon, or fighting a cosmic and crazy summer run steelhead, you can rest assured that we’re busy watching out for your safety. Not to mention, taking care of every detail so you can enjoy the moment, catch the fish of your dreams and reminisce the moment for years to come.
We believe in old fashioned ways of getting things done, through hard work and perseverance. We also enjoy talking to customers on the phone, through email, and letters.
